Proper planning is the key to a successful move. These are a few basic guidelines to assist you.
One Month Before Moving
- Make arrangements with moving company.
- Fill out change of address form with post office.
- Make travel arrangements, if necessary.
- Make arrangements for transporting pets.
- Start using food items, so there is less to pack.
Two Weeks Before Moving
- Switch utility services to new address. Inform electric, water, disposal, telephone and other services of your move.
- Clean rugs and clothing.
- Plan for special needs of infants.
- Defrost freezer and refrigerator.
On Moving Day
After arriving at your new home, you may have to:
- Renew drivers license, registration and tags.
- Shop for new insurance policies.
- Locate police stations, hospitals, and veterinarian near your home.
